Elders’ responsibilities

  • Serve as under-shepherds under Christ, with the ability to receive instruction from Him (John 10:16; Colossians 1:18; Hebrews 4:14).
  • Lead a life of prayer: alone, with the pastors and with other overseers.
  • Carry out restoration, lovingly confronting Christians who are sinning or lax as needed (Galatians 6:1–2).
  • Prepare and mentor others to serve and lead (2 Timothy 2:2).
  • Steward the flock by example, testimony and commitment to biblical standards; clarify church doctrine, practice and policy (1 Peter 5:1–2).
  • Select a pastor through a Pastoral Search Committee chaired by an elder representative. Complete annual pastoral staff evaluations.
